Henry B Woodbridge , VA October 11, 2016 Appliance: Model GE STACKABLE WASHER Drain pump in my washer was destroyed by a guitar pic It was obvious that the washer pump was not working when the tub would not clear the wash water. I removed the bottom panel and could hear the pump running but making a funny noise. I took out the pump which was easy (two bolts, unplug the electric, undo a hose clamp and a spring clamp). I took the pump cover off and found a guitar pic in with the impeller. It had worn the veins off the impeller so the pump would turn but not pump. I went on line and Appliance Parts Pro had the pump for $56 dollars less than anyone else. They sent me the wrong part (an ice maker) but they were very good about correcting their mistake and getting me the right part and expediting it. The new pump installed easily (15 minute job) and we are back washing cloths. Read More... The washer is about ten years old, it would have cost me about $1000 to replace it with a new front loader. The part was $145, labor was free (me). Saved myself $800! Read More...
