How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2621118 / WH2X694D Screw (12-Pack)

Replacing the parts was fast and easy. Just needed a little WD-40 to help loosen the existing screws. Followed the video - unscrew control panel, remove screws holding lid to cabinet, remove front of machine cabinet, and replace the parts! That was it. The videos are excellent - the ones I have watched even tell you what kind & size of tool to use. 

I had to WD-40 all the old screws in the tub strap retainers since they were locked up. Took no time to replace with the new ones. The rod & spring assembly which is no longer sold, I had to drill a small hole in the top and put in a cotter key. It's working as good as new! I'm 62 yr old female with serious COPD, but managed to do it myself all in under 2 hrs. Thank you Appliance Part Pros for having what I needed in stock and an easy website! I had my parts in 2 days! 

I removed the top of the washer and found all 4 damping supports broken. The best way to go after this repair, in my opinion, is to connect all dampers to the washer frame first. This is the only hard part because the mounting bolts are removed from the bottom. This will allow the tub to move to access the bolts better. The rest is easy. 

I replaced the dampening straps and the screws that hold them. I replaced the tub to pump hose and clamps. 

Found schematics on APP and was able to troubleshoot and buy all replacement parts. Replaced leaking inlet hose, water valve and suspension hangers on two washers. Plus a broken top ring on one washer. Total was just over $100 to get two large top-loading GE washers back to washing clothes at $1.75 a load. Order one day; parts arrive the next. Might not be quite that fast depending where you're located but the service is very prompt. Have placed several orders with APP and have been completely satisfied each time.
