How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3185407 / WR55X10025 Refrigerator Temperature Sensor

Changed sensor. 

I ordered a new temperature sensor, installed it, and the freezer is working perfectly. Your on-line video provided perfect instruction. The only hitch to the process is that reaching into the back of the freezer and working is a bit of a challenge. Because of my inexperience and the awkward reach into the freezer, it probably took me a bit longer than anticipated. 

Replaced the defrost heater and thermostat. Accessing these two items required removing most of the components in the freezer, which was made more difficult because of limited space in the side-by-side unit. The repair was quite easy after accessing and removing the wiring harness containing the aforementioned items. Tools required also included a multi-meter, soldering gun, flux, solder, wire cutters and strippers, shrink tube and heat gun. I also used a wash rag as a siphon in the drainage tray by letting a portion of the rag hang below the tray. This way the water stays inside the freezer instead of under the fridge and can be caught or cleaned up with a towel.

Had to replace damper and main board 

I purchased the recommended parts, control board, 2 sensors only needed 1, 2 heating elements only needed 1, defrost thermostat. I also replaced the door water & ice kit. Runs like new!

We replaced the Temperature Sensor, and the Defrost Limiter Thermostat. Wasn't sure which was the problem, so we replaced both. After watching the video for the repair, it was fixed in 15 minutes, and is working good as new :-) 

I was able to use the videos on this site to verify the problem I was having. The temperature sensor was in fact the older style sensor. Once the sensor was replaced, and the freezer was manually defrosted, it has been working great since. The freezer would usually last about two weeks before I would have to remove everything and defrost it. We are going to move and I did not want to continue this headache at our new place any longer. Our fridge is in near new condition after a few years and did not feel that spending $,$$$ was worth it. I was laughing at myself for not doing this months ago, it was so easy. 

Going to replace the temperature sensor on the fresh food evaporator, note to others. This part is not on the GE parts drawing. Need to sell the wire splices as well.
