Brian B Canton , GA July 26, 2021 Leaking pump. Replaced the pump, as well as the hoses from the tub to the pump and the pump to the drain. Wasn’t sure if it was truly the pump or one of the hoses. I completed the repair without taking the washer out of the laundry room. That was a tight squeeze and a reminder of how old I’m getting as I was cramped down behind the washer for most of the time. After unplugging the washer and removing the back panel, I drained the water from the drain line and pump ( by removing the drain hose) and then disconnected the hose from the tub to the pump. Removing the pump was really easy. Just 3 bolts (that were in rough shape) and then unplugging the wiring harness and removing the old pump. Putting in the new one was pretty straightforward. The 3 bolts went back in and the harness connected where the old one was removed. I replaced the hoses and then ran a short load to check for leaks. Once I knew I didn’t have any leaks, I replaced the back and pushed it back against the wall. Lastly, I basked in the wife’s attention for fixing the washer. I let her think it was harder than it really was. Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Amelda S Chandler , AZ October 28, 2019 Appliance: LG Washer WT5001CW Oe code machine not draining. Had this problem before and spent $450 to have a repairman come out to tell me a wire was stuck in the propeller of the drain motor. First I cleaned out as much water as I could and then took off the back panel of the washer. Did not take out the motor, instead removed the hose from the tub to the motor at the motor. Have towels ready as there is still lots of water. To keep all the water from going everywhere, I stuck my thumbs in as far as it would go and this kept the water from going all over. Felt around the propeller and found nothing. Put the tub hose back on. I then took off the hose that goes from the drain motor to the outside drain hose. Not clogged. Determined that it was the motor. It took me about 45 minutes to install as the front screw that holds the motor was a little larger, so I had to hunt for bigger socket yo fit. Very easy and was pretty self explanatory. Washer is quieter now as I noticed that the rubber foot on the side screw had deteriorated and so the motor was loose.
