How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP6301489 / 5859ER1002M Washer Drain Pump Assembly

Checked washer drain tubes - outside and to the tub. Checked the drain filter for blockage, there was none. Disassembled and visually inspected the water pump and found the pump shaft was loose and worn out! Ordered the drain pump and housing, reassembled and tested, all is good and everyone is happy!!! 

Replace casing and pump. fixed 

I replaced the drain pump motor. I also replaced the pump motor and pump assembly drain while I had the washer apart. The prices were to good to resist to not replace the whole assembly while I had the washer disassembled. 

Replaced recirculating pump, drain pump, and pump housing. As it turned out, the drain pump was damaged, the other two parts were OK. I ordered all three parts prior to opening it up and replaced all three anyways once I had it all disassembled. It took 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Pretty easy after watching the video. It took a little longer since I had previously hot-glued the gap between the front panel and washer frame (to quiet vibration noise during spin cycle). I put another bead of glue on the frame before reassembly since it ran much quieter with this glue “gasket” between the frame and front panel. 

I replaced both pumps and casing as it was easier to do and more cost effective as the drain pump was starting to go. 

I bought the pump motor,pump casing,and filter and received them in 2 days. That gave me enough time to watch the repair video a few times. When the parts arrived,I was able to make the repair in less than an hour. With the lowest prices I could find (less than $80 total) and an hours time, I saved myself a fair amount of money over hiring a repair person. Thanks appliancepartspros.com! 

When we first noticed a small amount water on the floor of our laundry room under the washer, I removed the back access panel from the machine and ran the rinse cycle. Using a flashlight I was able to pinpoint the leak in the pump casing area. I immediately shut off the washer and drained it using the drain hose on the front. I followed the instructions in the DIY video to remove the pump casing unit and once it was out I was able to confirm that the plastic pump casing itself was cracked. When the new part arrived I reinstalled everything according to the video and again ran a rinse cycle to confirm with a flashlight that the leak was fixed - success! Reinstalling the door seal was the trickiest part because the video just says to "reinstall the door seal." I discovered that you have to start at one spot and carefully seat the seal behind the door jamb every half inch or so all the way around the perimeter. Once you have the seal fully seated, then installing the seal retaining spring according to the video instructions is easy. Total expense for the repair was $18 for the part and shipping - much cheaper than calling an appliance repairman! 

Replaced the pump 

Bought parts. Arrived on 2nd day. Repaired in 1 hour!! Wife happy. Enough said.
