How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4441492 / 6500JB2001B Refrigerator Temperature Sensor

After some research I choose to replace the Controller Assembly. This resides in the freezer and is attached to the evaporator. First I had to take out the ice maker (easy 3 screws) next I had to remove the back panel on the freezer. This was not too difficult, there is a small panel in the back with a single screw holding it in place. Once that was removed I was able to pry the back panel off. There was one electrical connection that I had to take off that was attached to the fan. The back panel came out and I was able to see there the old Controller Assembly was. It was easy to replace. The difficult part was removing all of the ice that was build up. Make sure that the opening between the fridge and freezer is clear. I had to go back in through the top of the fridge to clear it out. So far it all seems to be working. 

I removed the defrost sensor assembly, installed a new one, it worked. Because of a shipping problem with FEDEX, Appliancepartspros resent the parts not once but twice. Needless to say, they are my go-to source for parts from now on. 

Replaced the evaporator fan after noting that the fan was not turning during compressor run. Had to first remove ice maker and then 2 screws in rear of freezer and disconnect wiring harness. Peeled and cut insulation and accessed removal screws. Little tricky to access screws holding the motor in place, but I used screwdriver between the fan blades and it worked. 

I ordered several parts but wanted the refrigerator temperature sensor to try it first. It was put on backorder. I did receive it plus one more that I didn’t order. I sent the second one back. I replaced it. It was a very easy fix and now my refrigerator works beautifully. I sent the other parts that I ordered back because I didn’t need them anymore. I am now waiting on the refrigerator seal so I can repair that. This repair saved me hundreds of dollars if I had to replace the refrigerator and I only had to replace a part that was under $100 

Installed a new control assembly. 

Flawless… thanks to the outstanding video provided with the part, the repair was super easy when the unforeseen benefit was cleaning out the entire refrigerator/freezer. Amazing the things you didn't know existed! If anyone has do it yourself genetics, this is the place to shop. Thanks guys 

Replacing the thermistor solved the problem. On-line video was helpful. 

With parts i ordered 

Unplugged the refrigerator, Disassembled the freezer's racks, rails and unscrewed the back panel opened the access panel. Replaced faulty evaporator fan motor, Defrost thermostat and Hester Sheat of evaporator unit. Installed back the back panel and screw in the rack's rails, Plugged in the refrigerator and observed. Error Code Er FF was eliminated on the display panel.
