I ordered a replacement rotor position sensor and followed the terrific video from this website on its replacement. One item of caution- the three small tabs that click over the tiny pins on the edge of the stator have a small amount of play in them, and once the stator is tightened back down to the drum housing, I found that one of the tabs was slightly pushed out past the outer face of the stator brushes and was rubbing against the magnets on the inside face of the rotor housing, causing the LE error to return after several loads. As I rotated the drum, it sounded like a rubbing brake pad on an out-of-true bike wheel rim. After disassembling the parts again once I figured out what might be the problem, I was able to keep the tab pushed in with my finger while re-tightening the stator bolts, and it remained firmly in place and clear of the magnets. The drum returned to a smooth rotation just like new, and no more LE error codes. I had feared early signs of a bad bearing, but fortunately it was not, and easy to fix.
