How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4442090 / 6600JB1010A Refrigerator Door Switch

Went on-line and found the part I needed (door switch) at Sears website, but it was out of stock (Sears, ha ha!). Then I found Appliance Parts Pros and discovered the part was much cheaper and in stock. I purchased it online. It was shipped out next day and I received in a couple of days. Easy to replace and now the light works perfectly. I replaced the bulb with an LED substitute and its much brighter too. I highly recommend this company for appliance parts for everything in your kitchen and laundry. 

Replaced the switch without any problem. Watched the video and the exchange was perfect 

Repair was simple thanks to repair videos. Took about 15 minutes and 3 tools (1/2" and 3/8" wrenches and a Philip head screwdriver). Working as good as new now.

I order a new one online from AppliancePartsPros.com for about $6 plus shipping. Federal Express delivered it directly to our home a few days later. I unplugged the refrigerator, removed the old switch using a couple of knives, unplugged the wire from the switch, plugged in the new switch, pushed the switch back in it's slot, plugged in the refrigerator. It was simple and fast. It took me five minutes to replace the switch and 10 minutes to clean behind the refrigerator! 

I ordered a new soor switch and replaced it. 

The tutorials on the APP website were amazing. The ice maker stopped making ice then the refrigerator wasn't getting cold. At first I thought it was the Evaporator Fan Motor. The tutorial showed me how to test it and it proved to be in working order. Another tutorial explained that the ice maker may not make ice if the Door Switch was faulty. A faulty Door Switch would also not activate the Evaporator Fan Motor so the fridge would not get cold. So, I changed the door switch and everything is now better than before. VERY easy fix! Thank you for the tutorial assistance APP!

Replaced switch with new one 

The plastic tensioner on this switch has a tab that I think was supposed to rest on top of the switch opening so that prying the switch cover would pop the switch out. Mine may have been installed improperly, the tab was under the hole, making it impossible to remove the switch as shown in the video. I wound up breaking the switch cover which exposed the spring. I was able to get a small flathead under the spring tab and pry the now broken switch out. The new one went in just fine, and works great!
