How to Troubleshoot & Replace Mcf AP4565041 / 6R8MD3 Ptc Starter (Compressor Start Thermistor), 1

I researched the problem online and discovered the starter may have been bad. I than found the AppliancePartsProcs.com web site, found and ordered the new part. It came in 2 day, without special shipping. It took me less than a minute to install the part. Around 30 minutes later I checked and the refrigerator was working properly. 

First I googled the problem and found that it was probably the PTC Starter and found that it was roughly $30. Replacing the Fridge would have been about $150 (plus my time, etc.) since it is a larger model, so I ordered the part. The only problem was in removing the cover off of the thing that the starter is plugged in to. You need to use a screw driver to push into (like you do to release the copper wires from an electrical outlet or switch). Also, the starter had two other extensions (total of 3) for plugs my fridge didn't have, so I covered them in electrical tape in case they became hot once plugged in. Total time to fix - about 30 minutes. Once all connected it started right up and is happily cooling extra beers downstairs right now! 

Ordered new relay one wire done. 

Replace the PTC starter this morning, plug in the power, compressor started running and fridge is working great. Thanks to everyone who submitted a similar comment and Appliance parts pros for their guidance. 

Put in new relay starter 

Checked the defrost timer. Had a friend check the compressor. The ptc was toast. Ordered the part friday morning. It showed up Saturday afternoon with regular shipping. Installed new part and the compressor fired right up. Best price I found was here. 

Replaced the compressor starter relay. 

My refrigerator was not cooling properly and there was a clicking sound. Seeing there were similar problems with this and the part needing replacement was the PTC starter, I ordered one from Appliance Parts Pros and after less than a 15-minute repair, it's working as good as new. 

Unit stopped cooling and began making periodic clicking sound. After a little research online diagnosed the problem as a likely starter relay issue on the compressor. After viewing how-to video on appliancepartspros.com, I called one of their reps. After a very helpful and pleasant conversation with the rep, I ordered the part needed. The part came the next day (I did not pay for overnight shipping). I installed the part and the problem is completely resolved. Great experience with these folks.
