How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4450509 / DA97-07549B Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

Ordered the ice maker from Appliance Parts Pro and in about five minutes with a phillps screwdriver installed it and three hours later I had ice forming. 

Replaced it. fairly easy 

I found two self taping screws and was able to attach the mounting bracket. 

I did a search for the ice maker and came upon AppliancePartsPros.com. Entered my refrigerator's model number and the APP website came up with my model and it’s parts breakdown. When I selected one of the listed possible problems with my refrigerator “not making ice cubes” the website directed me to the Ice Maker assembly as the most likely cause (great feature). I ordered the ice maker, great price, fast shipping. It arrived when expected and was very well packed. The replacement video that was on the product page was very helpful. I was able to replace the ice maker in under 10 minutes, start to stop. Worked like a champ, lots of ice cubes now! Highly recommended. 

Good old reliable Appliance Parts Pros had the part delivered in 3 days and saved Thanksgiving. Easy fix like most modular replacements but took an extra 15 minutes because the bottom screws from the original part were 4mm and the new part had 3mm thread inserts. I was able to make 4-40’s fit. Just an FYI 

I bought a replacement ice maker from AppliancePartsPros.com and watched the YouTube video they made on how to install it. Easy - peasy - lemon - squeazy. The only problem encountered was the screw size for a plastic shield that sits on the back of the unit. The original Samsung screws were M18x11 metric round heads. The new part needed screws that were 48 x 3/32" SAE. These screws should be purchased at a hardware store BEFORE installing the new ice maker IF the original screws do not fit. My fridge is 12 years old so it is possible Samsung modified their threads. That being stated, the entire repair took about 10 minutes. 

Replace ice maker. Simple to do by removing several screws. Replacement part exact fit, Total time less than 15 minutes, Part was shipped to me within 2 days, Great service! 

I watched a You Tube video on how to change the ice maker and then ordered the part and did the job in less then 20 minutes, it only took a Philips screwdriver and I saved over a hundred dollars by doing it myself.
