J Gregory, Based on the information provided I would suggest checking the temperature at the ice maker, it should be 0-8°f. If the temperature is not below 8°f you could have a cooling issue.

Martin for Model Number RSG257AARS/XAA

I have this Samsung refrigerator with ice maker model: DA97-07549B that is cycling prematurely. This premature cycling is causing the ice tray to get overfilled and water running over and eventually down to the floor. I performed the reset by pushing the test button only once and also get numerous cycles during this process, causing the water overflowing the ice tray. I turned the water supply off and performed the reset test again with same results (numerous cycles). Do I have a faulty ice maker unit? Could it be a faulty thermostat in this ice maker unit? The freezer compartment is maintaining proper temperature. Appreciate any input before moving forward with any more troubleshooting or repairs. Thank you.

Martin, based on the information provided, the most likely cause is the ice maker DA97-07549B is sending improper data to the main control and causing this multiple-cycle failure.

Hello Jackie, that ice maker is just an assembly of mechanical and electrical parts, with no refrigerant, it can be disposed of in the trash or taken to a metal recycler.

David, it would be recommended that the unit is repaired to the manufacturer's original design. We would not know what could occur by modifying the original design.

Rod for Model Number Samsung/Kenmore fridge model 401.41003010

I have replaced this ice maker (da97-07549B) so it is now new but the same problem exists. It is not the ice maker unit (unless it is a bad new part) Should I return in? or is it something else in the fridge. It is Samsung/Kenmore fridge model 401.41003010.The Ice maker will not activate at all. No motor turning no water entering no activity at all. It does not try to start at all after the test button is pressed. I do get the chime when pressed.I have 120v at the maker and fully defrosted the freezer. My water pressure is good. What else in the fridge can I replace?

1 Answer

Rod, the voltage supply to the ice maker would need to be tested from the red wire to the brown wire for voltage when the reset switch is pressed. The brown wire is the neutral side and if there is not a voltage reading after the chime sounds, the main control DA41-00649C is not closing the neutral relay for the ice maker motor.
