How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014711 / WPW10006355 Washer Shift Actuator

Had problems with the washer not going into spin cycle. Got code F7 - E1 code. Researched that code on Google and came up on this website that the speed sensor was bad. Quick easy fix 

After going through spin failure, blinking red "lid locked" light, unplugging for a minute and re-plugging, trying the built-in diagnostics (E5 alone??), AND lots of Google searching, I suspected the "Shift Actuator." Then, I came across AppliancePartsPro and read all the excellent stories, confirming that probable cause. Ordered the part, got it the NEXT DAY and installed it in a half hour (rear panel already off for my diagnostics). Whirlpool washer works like new (only a few years old anyway). 

Replaced the shift actuator. Had to tip the machine forward and remove the plastic belt guard, but after that the part was very easy to switch out. 

I agree with what others have said about this particular repair. The repair itself is very easy compared to the actual diagnosis. I am not very handy, so it took me a while to diagnose the problem. However, once I figured out this was the problem my washer was having, I ordered the part, watched the repair video, and got to work. The repair worked perfectly. Thanks AppliancePartsPros! 

After extensive reading online about similar issues, I determined that replacing the Actuator was worth a try. The part arrived at my home in less than 24 hours after ordering - seriously! I drained any extra water using diagnostic mode, then tipped it forward on a 2x4 to get access to the bottom. Replacement was a breeze, and washer working perfectly now! Thanks!

Replacing the shift actuator resolved the issue. After purchasing an inexpensive but faulty part from another vendor, I bought the shift actuator from AppliancePartsPros.com. This redesigned part makes it slightly more difficult to plug in the wiring harness. Once installed, it works flawlessly. I learned how to do this by watching a few YouTube tutorial videos. Only tools needed were a phillips screwdriver, a 5/16 inch socket bit screwdriver and a flashlight. 

Watched a You Tube video from Ben's appliance and junk, which showed how to enter the diagnostic mode and then how to diagnosis the part for failure. Replaced the shift actuator. 

I spoke with a very nice representative at your website and reviewed the noise characteristics. Right off the bat, she thought it might be the actuator or the clutch. I bought both including a belt. I watched the video and the problem was solved.
