We first replaced the main control board because the display seemed to show that there was a problem with it. It started up all the electronics on the fridge, but not the compressor or fan. We then ordered and installed a new compressor start device and capacitor since we read that a power outage can affect those too. The parts arrived the next day, but still no compressor or fan. I called Appliance Parts Pros and a very helpful technician sent me details on service tests we could perform on the fridge. The control board worked well enough for those and showed that both the compressor and fan were still working, so we deduced there might still be a problem with the new motherboard (not from Appliance Parts Pros because not in stock), and asked that company to send us another. We received and installed the new control board and everything came back as good as new! The repair itself was very easy, but diagnosing the problem when the first part was not fully functional made it a challenge and took a lot of time.
Thanks for those service tests -- it made a world of difference to know what was and wasn't working!
