How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020483 / WPW10366605 Defrost Control Board

Started with most common fixes for this problem and replaced the Bi-metal Defrost Thermostat. That wasn't it. Then replaced the Condenser Fan and still not working properly. Finally replaced the circuit board and 2 weeks out, unit is working properly. Board was easy to replace, as were the other parts. As a DIY'r the challenge is diagnosing without proper testing equipment and the process of elimination can get expensive. Still happy to have fixed it myself. Replaced the electronic control after testing the heater coil and the thermostat. 

I replaced the cold control. Removing the plastic protector on the tubing was easy. Getting it on the new one required some WD40. The refrigerator now seems to be working but it is off more than I realized in the past. Foods and ice are frozen so it is working. I did not install the defrost unit as I think the cold control was the issue. 

I checked the defrost heater element and the defrost thermostat. Both were fine. I watched a repair video for the defrost timer on a similar model. I replaced the control within 15 minutes.

Spoke with one of your techs who walked me through the issues with my Whirlpool refrigerator. She correctly determined it was a faulty control board. Sent me one, I installed it and the refrigerator is now working perfectly. Great service!
