How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3182733 / 2198597 Icemaker Assembly

Finally decided that buying ice was not a good idea. Easy to order the part with the Frig Serial number. The day I ordered the ice maker I watched the video on the site on how to change out the part. Seemed pretty easy. Part arrived in 3 days. Watched the video one more time and went to work. Literly took me 15min from start to finish. This site is great and saves you so much money. Family thinks I am a hero because we have ice again. Thanks AppliancePartsPros...you made me look really smart. 

Ordered part and simply followed video that was attached to my receipt email. Couldn't of been easier. 

Replaced parts 

I was going to order the part i thought would fix the icemaker but after watching your video and removing the complete icemaker assembly when I saw how nasty the water reservoir was i decided to order a complete icemaker assembly which eliminated all my problems. The icemaker assembly arrived within two days. Simple install. Took the unit about 48 hrs. to get back to max ice making. I would strongly recommend replacing the complete icemaker assembly thus eliminating all your problems. 

Ran test to figure out what was wrong with the ice maker. Was the motor and decided the cost for a whole new unit was not that significant higher than purchasing the motor so I bought the whole ice maker unit and replaced. 

The quickest way to test is to remove the ice maker which is extremely easy. Carefully remove the flap in front of the ice maker. Then remove the top shelf, as it will be easier to get a 1/4 inch nut driver in to remove the screw that holds to electrical connection cover. Then two clips lift up on the bottom sides of the ice maker and pull it toward you. If you want to test the icemaker remove the left cover and strip a #12 solid wire and slide in test holes if motor rotates, it could be a frozen line or a new water filter may be needed. If the motor doesn't turn my advice is replace with assembly. Unplug connecter. When new assembly arrives remove tray from bottom old icemaker 3 screws (1/4" nut driver ). Install on new ice maker. Connect electrical connection, slide unit on track till it clicks. Reinstall connection cover. 10 

My ice maker quit working on December 23rd and we had guests arriving on the Christmas Eve. Because of the holiday no repairman was available and i found appliance pats pro on the internet. With the help of the instruction video on appliance parts it was easy. Following the instructions i was able to remove the old ice maker (they showed me the trick tabs to press) and replaced it with a new one. When i called them to order the representative was extremely helpful and i got the new part shipped overnight. The new ice maker arrived in the morning on the 24th and following the instruction video i installed it in 20 minutes and had ice in time for my guests. 

Took the old out and searched the part number on Appliance Parts Pros.Com found the part and ordered it.The ice maker made lots of noise the day it stopped so I knew I needed a new one. They also had a video on how to install. Most ice makers are easy to replace and I have ordered other parts from this site and found it very easy and a lot cheaper than having a repair man charge you twice the price.I compared price against other sites and they have the best price with different shipping options. 

Repairman charged $120 to diagnose and quoted us 600 to repair- we ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pro and repaired it ourselves. Video was EXTREMELY helpful. Saved us $500! Thanks!! 

Replaced ice maker ASSEMBLY, not just the module. Also made sure it was for infrared sensor - not ice maker w/arm - they are two different parts with different part numbers.
