How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3182733 / 2198597 Icemaker Assembly

Followed the video. Worked perfect! Very easy, saved $ from having to hire someone or buy new refrigerator.

Ordered part frrom Appliance Parts Pros, as usual they came thru on the first try!! It took less than 10 minutes to remove, change shelf and instrall the new unit and within 20 minutes it started making ice!! So far, 3 days now, it has been chugging out ice in a grand fashion. 

Replaced the ice maker. 

Changed ice maker assembly 

After reading the experiences of others online I thought the problem might be the optics (infrared) so I replaced the receiver since it was relatively inexpensive and easy to change. That did NOT fix my problem. If your Ice-maker is producing ice at all, it's not likely to be the optics. So, I decided the problem must be something related to cycle time and that by default must be in the Ice-maker itself. In my situation, that turned out to be correct. I ordered the part shown, which was as easy to install as the infrared receiver and presto, problem solved. 

Replaced it. 

Ordered replacement part. Took mounting bracket off old part, placed it on new part. Attached new parts wires and clips, gently with screwdriver to assist. 

Decided that I should replace the entire ice maker as the cost for the ice maker was actually less than just the control module that would go inside it. Watched the video provided by Appliance Parts Pros and it was an easy replacement. Once complete, ICE again! 

Ordered new part - installed it 2 days ago. Worked only 1 time. Thought the water line or something in the icemaker frozen. Heated the ice maker carefully with hair dryer. Worked 1 time again. Measured the freezer temperature - minus 10 degrees. Emptied the freezer. Ran a space heater to warm it. Set the freezer thermostat to the warmest setting. Freezer now zero degrees. Ice maker has worked since.
