How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3182733 / 2198597 Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

I tried to turn the ice maker off and back on but it still did not work. I decided to ordered a new ice maker. While waiting for the 5 days for delivery, my old ice maker started working on the fourth day. Now I need to make a decision, should I return the new device or hold on to it, so when it stops again I will be ready??? 

My wife installed the new part and it works great. 

Repairman charged $120 to diagnose and quoted us 600 to repair- we ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pro and repaired it ourselves. Video was EXTREMELY helpful. Saved us $500! Thanks!! 

Replaced ice maker ASSEMBLY, not just the module. Also made sure it was for infrared sensor - not ice maker w/arm - they are two different parts with different part numbers. 

I replaced older ice maker and water valve ( prev replaced in 2017 for 5th time), and new items started making ice again. Parts n service excellent, thank you! 

By replacing the ice maker assembly. 

Figured out the bi-metal Thermostat switch had died. However the ice mold had corrosion issues where the coating had worn away so I replaced the entire unit.

Watched the video for the ice maker and using the tips provided order figure out the problem and ordered the icemaker assembly. Five minute install and now have ice! Thanks ApplianceParts Pros
