How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3182733 / 2198597 Icemaker Assembly

Looked on you tube to find out how to trouble shoot and found a video on how to ohm out the parts. Found that the motor had failed. Found part on your site, ordered installed and it started making ice. 

Order the part from AppliancePartsPros.com by researching my model number on their site. Delivery was fast and after watching their online videos and those on YouTube, I was able to replace the ice maker in little or no time! After a few hours, our ice bucket was filling up and ice again for the family! 

The ice maker had 7 years of heavy usage, so I ordered a complete replacement unit from AppliancePartsPros. I ordered it on line Tuesday with just Standard shipping, $6.95, and received it on Thursday! I watched their very helpful instructional video on replacing it, and was able to replace it in minutes, as it showed where the hidden locking tabs were located. I'm sure it would have taken me a while to find them on my own! I am a very satisfied customer!

Ordered new assembly, perfect fit 

I ordered the icemaker assembly, Water Filter, and Water Inlet valve assembly from Appliance Pros. Got everything in just a couple of days. Watched excellent Appliance Pro videos. Replaced filter and the icemaker assembly. Had ice pumping out in about an hour or so. Did not replace the Inlet valve but I have it in case that becomes an issue later. Fast shipping and excellent how-to videos made this repair easy. 

I already had removed the defective part. The OEM replacement slides right into place with a little tilting to slide the water filler tube into place. This was the second time the icemaker has gone out on my Kenmore Coldspot. Immediately after I replaced the first icemaker, the water started filling. That didn't happen this time. Instructions said to wait 24 hours for first batch of ice, still no ice. I slid the on/off switch back an forth several times and the 'magic eye' light came on and the icemaker started filling with ice. Disassembly of the old part revealed a burnt contact, the same problem as the first icemaker. It was very easy to find the part I needed on the AppliancePartsPro.com website, price was great and shipping fast!
