How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022211 / WPW10488048 Door Strike

Ordered the striker latch, it arrieved in two days, I removed the two screws holding the broken latch and installed the new latch, then put the two screws back in. Wam Bam, it was fixed, it was easy. 

I ordered the door strike for the Maytag MHW8000AG0 and then used a block of HDPE plastic and a drawer child safety latch/hook to craft a "block" that plugs into the door strike and firmly holds the door open approx 5 inches. Maytag recommends the door be left open after use to allow the drum & seals to dry out to prevent mildew or mold growth. Works like a charm and it looks like it came with the washer. 

It was easy as 1-2-3 it unscrewed easy part slid ïinto place and I was done 

I changed it out with no problem. 

I Google the repair process and found your youtube video on how to replace it and went to your website and ordered the part which came in 2 days actually day and a half and with the video, I fixed it by myself. Go girl power. Thanks, guys 

I bought the door latch OEM part, followed the video linked in the part description and it was a breeze. It is worth noting that I am a Master Diesel Mechanic so tools and taking things apart are no strangers to me. If you're not even slightly mechanically inclined, call someone who is...a pro repairman, a friend who is a mechanic, heck, even a DIY'er with basic skills can do this repair but don't hesitate to ask for help if you even think you might need it. A favor is cheaper than buying a new washing machine. 

Replaced broken part with new 

Ordered door strike part total repair took about 15 minutes. 

Broken door latch. When we were moving our dryer downstairs, they caught the latch on the wall and it broke off. Ordered this replacement part, and easily fixed it. Very happy!
