How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010824 / WP74003019 Oven Bake Element

My son stopped in and I asked if he had time to look at it. He pulled out the oven, unplugged the electrical cord. Then he removed the oven racks. Unscrewed the four screws that held in the burned out element and unplugged the element from the oven. He then plugged in the new element, screwed in the four screws, replaced the oven racks, plugged in the electrical cord and done. Maybe took all of 10 minutes. We turned on the oven and it heated up quicker than it has been. It was great. 

Installed new element. 

I replaced the bottom heating unit in my electric range oven and now it reaches the higher temperatures in a matter of minutes 

The element shorted out while the oven was on. Mini fire & everything! Replaced the heating element and oven is good as new!

I could see the problem with the element. I knew it was the broken. Watched your accompanying video which looked simple enough. Everything went perfectly thanks to the replacement part from you and the instructional video. It took me longer (getting up and down at my age was a bit of a challenge). The screws came out easily, the metal plate came off easily, unplugging the end of the element behind the oven was easy. The only hard part was getting the screws back in for the element in the oven (I did get it done) and putting the oven door back on. The door is so heavy and it bumps the snap hinges shut before i could get both ends in. My friend came and he was able to help me get it back on. Turned it on, no short, just a hot oven! Thanks to you I could find a part that fit my Maytag oven bought in 1997! It's one of the first flat top shoes with a convection oven. A great appliance and I'm so happy it's usable again. Thanks so much! I would recommend you to everyone. It definitely helped for this old lady who did not want to buy a new stove. At 82 it was an easy job - just hard for this old gal to get up and down off my knees!

I ordered the part, got it quickly, asked a neighbor to fix it. I had him watch the short video which I had already watched, and he repaired it in about 10 minutes.
