How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010662 / WP707929 Grease Filter

I replaced the drip pans, grates, knobs, grease filter and downdraft grate. I have a new stove top! All for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

My Jenn-Air was 39 years old and the blower fan motor stopped working. I ordered the motor kit and a new blower wheel and replaced them in about 1.5 hours.

The new replacement came in a few days so it was out with the old and plug in the new. I also used the opportunity to get new knobs and a couple of grease filters. The interesting thing about this whole situation is that I discovered when thinking about replacing the unit that these indoor grills are no longer made by anyone. Why I don't know, but I suspect it was a safety liability issue caused by people who weren't careful. Anyway, I'm pleased to get it going and I will continue to use about twice a week. I'd previously replaced the fan motor with a part Appliance Pros so it should last longer than I will. 

Ordered the part from you. It was easy to replace. Hard to find the part until I tried your website. 

Corrected previous homeowner's vendor installation. Found blower housing was installed backwards (reversed causing backflow), made correction and installed new 5" round metal ducting. Ordered new Jenn Aire Damper #A405 from Appliance Pro Parts on Monday morning, 3/2 and received it Tuesday afternoon, 3/3 with their normal shipping. Thanks for the quick service! Had to cut two holes in shelf, one to connect to blower housing from under the shelf and the other about 2' feet away to bring back up to the top of the shelf to vent through to the existing exterior opening. Used 4 - 90 degree adjustable elbows and cut 2 - 60" round links to fit my installation. Used self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the connections and then sealed them with 3M Aluminum Duct Tape. Now our unit has a clean, space effective installation at the back of our cabinet that resulted in about 25% more shelf space, and our Jenn Aire Downdraft now works as designed! 

Used non-contact voltage detector on fan motor wires to determine that power was getting past the switch indicating motor was bad not the switch. Was able to easily remove fan by taking off 4 nuts from mounting studs leaving plenum and everything else in place, cut wiring harness close to motor leaving as long as possible wires remaining connected to switch. Saved a lot of time and problems by leaving original harness connected to switch and splicing new harness to old one. The only difficult part was removing fan blade from old motor to new motor (spent more time cleaning fan blade than on the rest of the job), would consider buying new blade if I had to do it again. 

I ordered a new grease filter. 

Received products quickly and in great packaging. Replaced old parts that were cleaned improperly and needed replacing. Very happy.
