How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009871 / WP6-912678 Lid Hinge Pin

Replaced wax motor switch and door lock switch. 

Replaced the Dispenser Lid and attached some Hinge Pins.. 

Bought a new lid for the soap dispenser. 

Once I figured it out, fix was easy for me, I had Maytag washers & dryers since I got married in 1974. If it was something I couldn't figure out I would consult my dad. (he was a Maytag dealer). I would also like to thank Appliance Parts Pros for speedy delivery at reasonable price. 

Ordered the parts and assembled it in less that 5 minutes and now it looks like new. 

Ordered the parts, watched the video and went to work on both. It was all very easy! 

Replaced lid and hinge pins. Needle nose pliers helped to push the short hinge pin through the lid hinge and into the dispenser bezel. Good as new. 

Removed the dispenser bezel by removing four Philips screws and gently pulling the dispenser bezel away from the washer. It was very easy to remove. I inserted the hinge pins in their proper places (since the hinge pins are two different sizes, lining up the new dispenser lid with the dispenser bezel will indicate the proper location for the hinge pins). To get the new dispenser lid onto the dispenser bezel, place one end of the dispenser lid on one of the hinge pins and then slightly bend the dispenser lid in order to slide it over the other hinge pin. Place the dispenser bezel in place and lightly tighten the Philips screws to secure; do not over tighten. I did all of this while the washer was in use. 

Very simple, after receiving new lid and hinge pins, placed the top hinge pin in the lid and set the lid back into washing machine frame. Lined the lid up and with the lid flap open, inserted the bottom hinge pin and pressed bottom hinge pin firmly in place. 

Was a really easy fix. just put the new pins in the lid . Had to bend the lid slightly and it locked right in.
