How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013449 / WP8572974 Lid Hinge

Watched a YouTube video. 

Be sure to buy all the parts for both sides. I replaced the lid and the left side hardware earlier this year and 6 months later the other side seized, cracking my new lid. This time I replaced all the hardware on both sides. I hope to get another 5 years out of this machine. 

Replaced lid and hinges. 

I ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com and watched the GREAT video on how to replace it. Seriously it took me five minutes and four screws. perfect replacement part and I'm back to washing 900 loads of laundry for a house full of kids!! 

Replaced hinges and glass lid. Used the video provided on AppliancePartsPros.com - very easy to understand and perform. It was a little tricky getting the lid to slide onto the hinges but two pairs of hands made it much easier 

I went to YouTube and looked up the lid problem and it suggested changing the two hinge pins. To be able to lift off the lid, I had to remove two screws on each side…A torx #15 screwdriver is needed and then the lid was easily lifted off. I took out old pins, and replaced them with your parts…the pins are unique to each side ….the most difficult part of the job was lining up slots in the lid to drop over pins. 

Replaced lid and hinges with new. AppliancePartsPros shipped the new lid in 24hours! I am very pleased with the purchase and will buy in the future as needed.
