How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020376 / WPW10358302 Drain Hose

I started the dishwasher one night, and suddenly, there was water covering the kitchen floor. After removing the front base panel, I realized that the rubber connector between the hose and the dishwasher had been chewed up by a rat. Now, don't get me wrong. Our house is not infested. After pulling the dishwasher out of the cabinet, it became apparent that the space behind was a portal to the underdepths of the crawlspace, where rodents move around freely. It (or they) had been coming up on occasion to get a little nip of plastic. In hindsight, the cat's frequent staring at the appliance made more sense. Replacing the hose was the easiest part of the entire process. It only required a pair of pliers. The hard part: plugging every crevice with steel wool and foam to keep those tiny demons out. I replaced the hose and since the rodent may still be around, put a couple of large glue trays under the dishwasher to reduce the risk of a repeat. 

Removed the lower front cover (2screws), removed ,2 mounting screws and pulled washer out far enough to remove and replace water supply line. Put it back together and was finished. 

Ordered new hose and replaced the bad one. It was more work getting the dishwasher out and reinstalling it, than replacing the bad hose.

My Kitchenaid KUDP02SR dishwasher was leaking from the bottom of the door. At first I thought that the drain pump or filter might be the problem, but then a day later water filled up the bottom again even when the dishwasher had not been turned on. Google searching and posts on this site pointed towards a problem with either the water inlet valve (stuck partially open) or the drain hose (allowing backflow into the dishwasher). I decided to try the inlet valve first, and so far, after 3 days, the problem seems resolved. 

Well, about 11-12 years ago, I bought an entire kitchen from someone. The dishwasher was up at bat. I figured everything plastic or rubber was dry rotted so I bought all the rubber seals and grinder blade. Replaced it all and set it up. Right away, the water relay thing started spewing water. Figured the water froze In it and cracked. I replaced that as well. Now my Kitchen Aid stainless steel unit is working like new.. Cant even hear it..... 

Took apart, replaced the check valve and also replaced the discharge line.
