How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6024170 / WPY304693 Jumper Wire

New part, jumper wire, fit perfectly and back running perfectly. 

Replaced it with a new element. 

We tested all the parts as suggested by the troubleshooting video. We ordered a new heater assembly, new high temperature thermostat and jumper cable. We cleaned out all the lint, tester all three thermostats and had the vent duct cleaned going to the outside. Everything is running great and our clothes are drying faster now with all the new parts. My Maytag dryer is 36 years old and runs very efficiently now after our repairs. We are in our 70’s (DIY on fixing things) and did not want the newer dryers being sold today, so for under $175.00 we were able to make the repairs saving us lots of money. I replaced the Hi-Limit Thermostat and the wire to the heating element. First I tested the new T-tat with a heat gun to confirm that the T-stat would function correctly--which it did. Then I installed the new parts in the dryer and tested the operation and it operated correctly. I subsequently did the same test on the old stat--just for fun--and discovered that it never shut off as it should, which confirmed that the burnt wire was caused by a bad stat. 

I have an older model which, with your company's help, have been able to keep working way beyond its planned obsolescence. This is not the first repair... Your representative was able to track down the old model number and match it to the thermostat needed along with the jumper replacement. It was just a matter of switching out and we were back in business.
