How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094500 / 285671 Lid Switch Assembly

Replaced lid switch. 

I removed the old switch, ordered a new one, and installed it. It took about 10 minutes to put the new one in, it fits as I would expect, and made my wife happy because she could keep her 24-year-old washing machine. 

We ordered the Lid Switch Assembly after seeing your website as to probable cause of the malfunction. The delivery was so fast we wondered if the distribution center was down the block. The video [with the wild-haired guy] was very well done; simple in instruction and explicit in pictures. We were able to follow it easily. However, it took us much longer to do the repair just because we had to move things, then clean under the washer, maneuver in a rather small back door entry hallway. When we finished we decided to wait a day or so before trying to use the washer. This morning we ran a very small load to make sure the cycle would be complete. HOORAY! It worked and we proceeded with the normal accumulation. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. That was real service!!!! 

Replaced .. worse part was taking off the back of the machine (remove the clips on top first, you have to pry them out from the back first. This was just a matter of figuring out where to apply pressure). This was a reminder why I work on computers for a living and not appliances. We will now be able to squeak another year or two out of this already roughly 30 year old appliance. 

By reading the possible problems/fixes, I decided to try the switch based on the problem description. It was a cheap $40 fix for my tenants. Thanks for the ideas and the video. Very helpful. 

I researched problem on-line and found that the lid switch was failing. I recently bought a dryer thermostat from appliancepartspros.com and looked for a lid switch on their website. I watched the video associated with the part. It seemed like a repair that I am capable of doing. I ordered the part at 5pm on Monday and received it by 11am on Tuesday. It took me half an hour to replace the part and the washer works great now. This is my second experience with appliancepartspros.com. I fixed a problem with my dryer a couple of months ago. I am a believer. 

Replaced the lid switch which had broken at the switch hinge. 

Replaced the damaged part with the part you sent. Worked perfectly. ran through the cycle. Solved the problem. Damage to my old part was my fault. Did not lower the lid but let fall on the old switch and it broke the plastic Your video was very helpful. I did decide that the cabinet was not strong enough when moving and installed screws through the base into the bottom of the cabinet. 

Removed the case replaced the switch. 

On line video showed a video on the possible problem, changing the lid switch... It was so complete, I watched it once, and completed the job in 20 min. Thanks for the help
