How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7216887 / W11683243 Module

Learned from your video (and others) that these lights are all on one circuit, wired in series (lights on side of refrigerated area are on another series-wired circuit but all of these lights were working). Discovered that all of the non-working lights were defective and had to replace all 6 of them. Replacement lights purchased worked fine. 

Replaced defective LED light module in the freezer section and one in the top of the refrigerator skin! All of the remaining modules are now working! 

The LED Light Board was the correct part for the repair. Because there was so much insulation in the area where the part had to go and because there were very short wires with no give to the part the new Light had to connect to, it took about 2 hours to change the light. Without the insulation (which was also under the tab that had to be pushed to disconnect the old LED Light making pressing the tab very difficult and if the wires had been longer it would have taken less than 5 minutes. It just took a lot of patience but it's great to have working lights again. 

Purchased a new LED module for the onethe in freezer and replaced it after it testing with a jumper wire told me that was the one that was faulty. 

A little tuff to get to and didn’t disassemble the freezer's front door and drawers. Removal of the light was easy with the pry tool, getting the wiring harness out took some work due to the foam insulation being applied after installed light assembly The side refrigerator lights went out/blinking top ones were stained on, top lights have been fixed once before by Kitchenaid. Refrigerators were noted as having problems with the lights, Whirlpool made. OEM Light about 3x’s more than aftermarket. But didn’t want to take a chance that it would affect something else in the circuit. 

Replaced one bad LED light. It took far longer than it should have because I had difficulty removing the freezer LED light. Without that problem, the repair would have taken less than 15 minutes. 

Replaced the freezer LED light. The instructional video was very helpful. The only difficulty was the socket was in the insulation and hard to access. Once the light was plugged in everything worked. 

Replaced light module. 

I replaced the single light component in freezer with a replacement part from ApplicancePartsPros.com 

First called an appliance repair place. They scratched their head said he thought it was the main control board. Would have to order one. This was the beginning of Jan. I would call him every month, he would tell me that it was on backorder. After 4 months I contacted AppliancePartsPros, which was diagnosed over the phone, part order. Replaced the part myself. Fixed my problem. Only needed one light module, fixed the other 5 lights.
