How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3135331 / 4392899 Touch Up Paint

Used touch-up paint, matched perfectly thanks 

Removed fabric softener cup by sliding the locking ring up and then pulling the container off. Pried open the cover cap. Stuck a 1/2" ratchet extension bar's square end in the hole of the agitator and turned left until it was loosened and could be removed. Put the agitator cam repair kit together. Put the new agitator assembly into the slot and tightened with the 1/2" ratchet extension bar. Replaced cap and snapped in place. Placed fabric softener container back on top so the grooves on the agitator matched up with the slots on the softener container. Slid the softener container's locking ring back down. 

I had tried all of the DYI suggestions found online. Baking soda and bleach, soaking in straight bleach, whitening toothpaste, scouring powder with bleach - nothing worked. I found that I could still get the parts to replace the handles but they cost more than I wanted to spend on a 15+ year old appliance. The Appliance Parts Pro rep suggested the manufacturers spray paint and a video on how to remove the handles. THEY CAME OUT SUPURBLY!!!! Incredible results at a modest cost. My old appliance looks brand new again! Thanks so much APP!!! 

Covered tines with caps and touch up paint on racks that showed wear. My dishwasher looks like new. I ordered and got next day delivery. Good service and good products.

Got parts. 

Got the repair gasket, watched the repair video, and installed new gasket within minutes. 

Once I tested to determine if the problem was the switch or the burner it was easy resolution. Ordered the part on Sunday and it arrived in Wednesday. I have always recieved fast deliveries from this site. Repairing was a matter of removing a few screws, disconnecting the wires and putting things back together. I would recommend taking a picture before starting and pay attention to the wire labeling as the connections are in a different location. It took about an hour with my spouse helping to hold the pieces in place during reassembly. All in all relatively easy.
