How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985199 / W10811157 Control Panel (Console)

Ordered a new control panel and installed it and works great now. Very easy fix.

Seems this is the SOP for this brand of washer for the start button to give out every couple of years. When I noticed it starting to happen (it sort of builds up to a complete button fail), I ordered the part from APP. I ordered the part on a Saturday, it went out Monday and I got it Tuesday. I'm back to machine dishwashing. Yay!

I replaced the control panel. After watching the how-to video, it took 10 minutes and the dishwasher is as good as new. In addition to the electronic button problem, there were several broken plastic parts on the control panel that were solved as well with the new part. The web site gave hints that helped me diagnose the problem precisely. In this case, the lights would light up, but it would not start.
