I have an old Kennemore dryer (110.79422800) that came with the house (no idea how much use it had w previous owners) and used it for a couple years before it gradually took longer and longer to dry, eventually lost the ability to use heat, and if I tried to use one of the heat settings, the timer didn’t advance.
I am not an experienced handyman by any means, but read enough reviews to see that the parts that go out on these gas dryers are: the gas valve coils, flame sensor, and dryer igniter. They were all parts that required the same (dis)assembly so I ordered them all. I did generally feel more comfortable with certified OEM parts, and the return policy from AP.
The videos all did a great job of showing the repairs, including things to look out for. That plus the fact that the tools-needed were minimal, gave me the confidence needed to do all the replacements myself relatively frustration-free.
Sure enough the dryer works again now, so the $ I spent on parts (even without knowing which was the real culprit) and minimal time for the replacement was well worth it considering the alternative was to look at new dryers.
