How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008294 / WP338906 Flame Sensor

I purchased the dryer gas valve coil kit and the flame sensor. At first I was going to test the components for continuity but since I already ordered these parts (based on previous successful stories / review), I just decided to go ahead and install the replacement parts without testing. Low and behold the dryer is now blowing hot air and working great. After reading the stories many people commented that they did not hear the gas ignite after the dryer started. Once my problem was fixed I was able to identify the sound of the gas lighting. Overall very easy fix and saved me thousands! 

Found the ignitor was the problem. Also replaced two other electrical components, since I had the dryer apart. 

I wasn't sure which part it was from the web site, but the video was such a big help I decided to replace the gas coils, igniter and flame sensor at the same time. I figured it would be easier than doing one part at a time and saving time. It worked!!! Dryer is working again and I'm very happy with the service! 

I ordered the flame sensor and cutoff-tml. I think it was just the flame sensor, but got both just in case. The how to videos were awesome! Thanks so much for giving the homeowner the professional help we need. 

Replaced the igniter and flame sensor 

I replaced the igniter, flame sensor and gas valve coils. 

Took dryer apart using your video instructions, then checked all electronic parts with multi-meter according to youtube video. Found out that the flame sensor was not functioning, ordered the part and received it the very next day. 

Replaced the flame sensor and the coils, it works fine now 

The coils on the gas valve were defective. Coils can test good, but remember they must develop a magnetic field to pull the plunger in the gas valve. Mine would start the cycle, but after about 5 min, the gas valve would no longer come on. I surmise the insulation on the coil windings had deteriorated, and would not develop enough flux to pull open the gas valve after several minutes of operation. Replacing them cured the issue. 

After replacing the valve coils and flame sensor, igniter was broken when it arrived so I didn't replace it. I cleaned the thermister with and dryer is now working. Did order a new one and temp sensors to replace them as well just because that is how I like to do things.
