Harold S South Floral Park , NY August 20, 2022 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Dryer WGD5500SQ0 The dryer is not heating. It took me about 4 hours, but the time was well spent. My Whirlpool WGD5500SQ0 dryer was about 15 years old and while it worked. Was no longer heating. I contemplated buying a new one but except for its age, it looked almost new and I was not about to throw away a perfectly good machine. I opened up the back panel and tested the fuses. The thermal fuse was bad so I ordered one and replaced it but that did not solve the problem. The igniter glowed every few minutes and went off without lighting. I decided that either the flame sensor or the gas coils were bad. If I was going to pull the drum. I decided to change out the parts that could be causing this and any future problems. I ordered a flame sensor. Gas coils and a new igniter. After watching the repair videos I went to work. I removed the drum and replaced the parts following the instructions in the videos. I plugged it in turned on the gas and crossed my fingers. It ran for about 10 seconds the threw off so much heat that made me realize that for the past few years it had not been heating as efficiently as when it was new. No wonder my wife always ran it on the high setting. She has no need to do that now as it heats like an oven. Thanks for the speedy delivery of the parts, Appliance Parts Pros. Read More... Kara B Mcmurray , PA August 06, 2022 Intermittent burn ignition. This one stumped me a bit. The dryer would work sometimes then not. This came down to the igniter working intermittently. We checked each component by itself using an ohm meter but everything checked out ok. So we ended up checking with volt meter with dryer on (attempting to start ) We were checking for 120 at each component. When we got to the primary coil it was only getting 54 volts. So we unplugged the wires going to the flame sensor and jumped them out which gave us 120 volts at the primary coil. So I guess the flame sensor had too high of resistance after it sensed the igniter then wouldn’t work till it cooled back down maybe 10 minutes later. We tested this by keeping the jumper connected to the flame sensor by wires and starting the dryer. The igniter would turn red every time, but no flame. So, to get the coils to power we had to increase resistance in the jumpers just like the flame sensor would. We did this by removing the jumper on one side ( be careful it has 120 volts cruising through it ) and the burning ignited. We ordered a new flame sensor and all works great. Read More... Mark H Pittsburgh , PA June 17, 2022 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Dryer WGD5700SW0 The flame keeps going out on dryer. The flame on my dryer would go out after several minutes and would not come back on. When looking through the sight hole at the bottom left of the front panel, I could see the igniter glowing orange, but the flame would not relight. I replaced the gas valve coils, flame sensor and dryer cycling thermostat. This was the first time I ever attempted to repair a dryer and I had no knowledge of the process. Using the help videos on this website, I was able to troubleshoot the problem and replace the suspected parts. Replacing the parts took about an hour to do. My dryer is working perfectly now and I saved hundreds over the cost of a new one…Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com! Read More... Evan B Moon Township , PA March 27, 2022 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MGD5700TQ0 Taking too long to dry. My wife complained our old Maytag gas dryer was taking way too long to dry. The air was warm but not hot. Suspected coil failure but also picked up a flame sensor because it was easy to do both at the same time. Repair literally took 15 minutes total. The YouTube videos provided are spectacular. Had wife hold up the drum while I reattached the pulley, turning a frustrating task into a 10- second one having both hands free. Also found $1.72 in change and got her nice and cleaned out. The dryer is now hot, my wife is happy, and I look like a genius. Read More...
