How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

Ordered strip down ice maker. Watched u tube videos on how to uninstall old one and install new one. Thankfully u tube told me what parts I needed to save for parts I ordered … and how to remove them. Very helpful 

Purchased replacement unit 

Ordered Online appliance parts, Pro. Replaced it myself. 

Purchase the ice tray ice maker and the solenoid for the ice maker in the back

Replaced the ice maker 

Bought a new icemaker and replaced it. 

I initially followed some troubleshooting tips to "jump start" the icemaker with no success. I removed the icemaker and disassembled and found an electrical contact under the large gear was burnt plus the fact that the actual ice tray had lots of buildup after 20 years of service. I ordered a replacement from AppliancePartsPro and it arrived the next day. You have to use the wire harness, the bale, the plastic splash guard, and the front cover from the original ice maker.The ice maker is held in the freezer with 3 screws and was very simple to remove the old and install the new. 

Checked water line and that was clear and flowed good. Husband used to repair appliances, so has experience. Knew it needed a new ice maker. However, when talking with Tech online and asking if the system included the wire harness, I was told it did. When it arrived it "did not" included the harness. Thankfully it worked when it was installed with the old harness. My suggestion is that you put this in the description and include the part #'s of the items for easy access.
