How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007433 / WP25-7855 Retaining Ring

Ordered parts on a Saturday afternoon. Parts arrived Tuesday afternoon. Replaced parts, dryer works. Did not have Retaining Ring pliers but used a soldering aid, worked fine 

Took the blower wheel housing apart, removed the retaining ring, pulled the old blower wheel off and slid the new blower wheel on. The new one is tight, so put a very thin film of Vaseline on the shaft first and lightly tap the center of the blower wheel with a rubber hammer until it seats on the shaft. Attached new retaining ring and re-assembled the blower housing. Put dryer back together. Amazed how quickly parts arrived! Ordered on a Saturday Afternoon online and Parts arrived Tuesday morning, just 2 1/2 days! just used regular shipping. 

Unplugged the dryer. Took the front off the dryer. Two screws and it lifts out. Spun the drum by hand and noticed a minor sound coming from the blower wheel (fan). Checked the belt and pulled the drum out and checked the motor bearings. Everything seemed fine. The front dryer panel has a duct section where the lint gets blown up to the screen. This was plugged solid with lint. Completely cleaned it out and reassembled dryer. Ran dryer and it still had the original rumbling noise. Wrote down model number and ordered blower, clamp and snap ring. I also ordered a belt. Might as well replace it while I'm in there. Spent about an hour an a half diagnosing and a half hour installing parts. Ordered parts on Monday and I had them by Thursday. 

I removed the front of the dryer, two clips and two screws and a lift got that front out of the way. I touched the blower motor wheel and it was spinning freely on the shaft. I ordered the wheel, the clamp and the clip that goes on the front of the motor shaft and repaired it in less than an hour. Complete from start to finish including the ordering of parts. 

I have no clue when it comes to appliances. My dryer was really loud all of a sudden and ended up turning off completely. I started taking it apart with hopes of finding an issue or easy fix. I got the front off and found my blower and exhaust clogged with lint and thought that was the fix. It wasn't. The sound was actually a clamp from the blower. It came off and when the machine was running the clamp was rolling through the blower making a loud sound. It finally cracked the blower. I checked on this website on how to repair it and 3 days later after getting the new blower in the mail it was fixed easily. Very thankful for the videos on the site and the ease of ordering. Will use again if another appliance breaks! Highly recommend. 

Removed the top panel. Remove two screw to remove front panel. Opened blower housing (multiple 1/4" screws). Remove snap ring. Retaining ring was already broken off. Blower wheel was already broken at the hub. Installed new blower wheel (it was difficult to drive on the hub). I was not sure how to drive wheel on to the motor shaft. Installed retaining ring. 

New glides, idler had a crack, blower retaining ring was gone. And a good clean out. Like new again for 2 hours and $77.00 

I found a video telling the difference between various dryer noises, and there was my noise. I took the old part off and it fell to pieces in my hand." I guess that was the problem." I ordered the part from appliancepartspro. It took 4 days to arrive, which was a long time without a dryer, but a necessary evil.
