How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008773 / WP37001042 Dryer Drum Support Roller

With the use of your online demo. It was very easy to replace the broken belt and drum support roller. I took a little extra time to vacuum out the lint in the drum area and check the area for any other problems. I was surprised at how fast the parts arrived. Thank you for your speedy service.

For $50 ($41 in parts and $9 shipping), my friend and I--both in our 70s--were able to completely repair my dryer in a little over 1 hour. (The most difficult part was removing the snap rings--didn't work like the video. The snap ring pliers I purchased didn't fit. It took jewelry pliers plus a screwdriver to pop them off.) We could see the source of the screeching when we examined one of the drum support rollers. The bearing had become displaced. I may only have needed new support rollers, but it made sense to replace the belt and the drum glides while everything was apart. I expect to get a few more years out of this dryer!

Belt was worn. Dryer guides also worn. Replaced other parts while dryer was apart.

Put new bearings, and belt ,rollers and glides. Runs quiet again 

Changed drum belt, drum support rollers, dryer drum guides, drum guide felt pads, belt tension pulley and motor. I had to change the motor because the damaged drum belt pulley is not replaceable by itself. Changing the drum support rollers, dryer drum guides and drum guide felt pads was only a precaution since I already had the dryer drum out. Watched the videos on AppliancePartsPros.com. All parts arrived super fast and very easy to do it yourself. 

Replaced bearings. Ordered parts as suggested in the site. They arrived within a couple of days. Videos on site made repair quick and easy with a minimum of tools. This site is awesome! 

I ordered drum support rollers and a belt tension pulley . The incredible part of my story is Appliance Parts Pros had these parts at my doorstep less than 12 hrs. after I ordered from the internet !!! Upon seeing the tension pulley was worn to one side I bent the tension arm to align as best I could with the motor drive pulley . The new support roller spun easily compare to the old ones . Success !
