Previous lint screen had metal strips, one along each side, to reinforce the plastic frame. It's meant to prevent the plastic frame from buckling as you push the screen down into its slot.
After 20+ yrs of use the plastic frame broke right at the end of the metal strip, causing the screen to hang up when attempting to reinsert it. New screen fits well, does not hang up. BUT it has no metal reinforcement strip. It prob won't last 20+ yrs, but will serve for now.
