How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016450 / WPW10181986 Oven Sensor Assembly

I ordered a oven temp sensor. came in 2 days .was a whirlpool part but the wires are a short and to much tension on couplings.it works but im going to cut the metal in back where the leads come out to reduce stress on couplings.other then that was very simple.they even have a video.great people to do business with. 

I took the back off the oven and 2 screws and a clip and 10 minutes later we were up and running. Very ... very easy repair. The part was perfect and arrived when predicted to. Thanks for the help. Oh did I mention I saved $25 from local dealers and had it in the same amount of time they gave me for them to get it in stock. 

Ordered a temperature sensor and an oven igniter. Installed both parts and it solved the problem. Customer service was great. Prices were the best and shipping was fast. 

Replaced the oven senssor 

I have a Maytag range made by Whirlpool go figure, about 7 years old, anyway I turned on the oven to preheat to 350 to warm food for a party and came back to find the oven off and the display read feature not available. Odd never saw that before. The oven would not come back on. As I couldn't do anything with the oven I went out to the breaker panel and shut the off the breaker 50 amp for the range. The next day after work I turned the breaker on and the oven was working. Odd again. I found the tech sheet on the top left rear of the range and got the model and serial numbers from the bottom frame in front left side behind the pull out drawer. Reading the tech sheet I ran the auto test and 2 fault codes came up. F6 E1 and F2 E0. Runaway temp and keypad disconnect. Only 2 items would cause that so I ordered the electronic control board and the oven temp sensor just because of age. Went back and shut off the power to the range and ordered the parts. The parts arrived within 2 days. It took about 20 minuets and a Phillips screwdriver to change both pieces. Be careful not to create any static charge when handling the board only touch the plastic sides. Turned the breaker back on and ran the auto test function and no faults detected the oven is working normal again. 

The oven temperature was low and the heating time excessive. However, the range display showed the requested 400F, even though the oven was really 250F. Because the oven displayed an inaccurate temperature, I ordered an oven sensor, a heating element, and a terminal block. Replacing the heating element fixed the problem. The element I received was the same shape and size, but the supports were not the same. However, I think it must have been a design change after mine was manufactured because it looked like the original mounting brackets were allowing the heating element to hit the oven floor. The new element had a bracket to prevent it. 

After researching options, it was either the control board or the sensor. I opted to replace the sensor. After watching the video demonstration, l located the sensor on the back of the stove. The only difference is that on my model there is an additional panel to remove to access the sensor. The new sensor is within one degree of the display now. The job took about 30 minutes only because I took the time to clean up the dust bunnies. I selected overnight shipping as this was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The part arrived Wednesday afternoon and quite literally saved the Family Dinner. 

After ordering the gas safety valve and temperature control I received my parts three days earlier than expected. I used a screw driver two wrenches and and gas thread sealant. The repair only took about twenty minutes. My wife is baking again and that makes everyone very happy! Thanks to appliance parts pros!
