How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013040 / WP8540221 Washer Door Strike

Had the repair guy come. He didn't have the part. Went online to appliancepartspro.com. Order the part. 2 days later received the part and replaced it in under 5 minutes, 

Just needed a screwdriver and it was complete. 

Very easy, I removed the broken latch with a screwdriver. Then screwed the new latch in place. 

Removed broken latch strike(2 screws). Confirmed none of the broken part were in the latch assembly. Installed new latch strike. Confirmed door would close and latch. Ran load in washer to confirm latch would hold. 

Easy to do. Remove a few bolts Remove the ring on the below take the door off remove the 2 bolts and replace place. Only 3 wire connectors to change. Went great and works great. >> Not a rockstar at this stuff but step by stp and done 

Ordered new parts, and utilized the video to see how to complete the repair. Did the repair myself and saved a lot of money in the process. 

Replaced door latch 

Got part from appliance plus 

Replaced the door strike. Very easy to do with just 2 screws. I also had to clean the drain pump but after that was done washer works like new. 

I watched a video on how to replace the broken door strike. It seemed simple enough and it was. Only the strike was broken, part of it still in the grasp of the latch assembly. I removed the gasket wire ring and removed part of the gasket from its' groove, allowing me to remove the latch assembly after I removed the 2-star screws which held it in place. 3 multi-wire connections were easy enough. Looking at the assembly, I turned it around to check it out and a tiny circuit board fell out, so to be on the safe side I ordered both parts. It took longer to get the gasket wire on than to replace both parts. My front loading washer works as well as the day I bought it 12 years ago.
