How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6278040 / W11120791 Infinite Switch Top Burner Control Switch

I ordered the switch for that burner, had it in an only two days time with no extra shipping. Once I figured out how the front control panel was removed it took me maybe 15 min. to change the switch and have it all back together again. Couldn't imagine getting it any faster or having the job go smoother. 

Ordered two new controls to replace the original ones. Burners are now operating perfectly! 

Bought new control and changed for old one 

Replaced the Infinite Switch. 

Ordered the part. Did take some time as was on backorder. Watched youtube on how to install it. Took less than 30 minutes and the new switch works perfectly. Must not, replace only one wire at a time as the new switch is a little different, but works great. 

Replaced faulty infinite switch. 

Replaced the infinite burner switch. 

Matched stovetop number to part list, watched the video discussing repair, received the part in good condition, turned off electricity to the burner and accessed the switch. Matched the wiring connections one at a time using old switch as a guide after removing the 2 holding screws. Double checked the wiring and replaced screws, turned electricity back on and tried the burner using a pan of water. It worked and the repair took less than 30 minutes including cleaning some grease buildup.

I checked the fan and fan motor and determined changing them would be difficult. I ordered this switch and made sure that I put all the wires in the same spots as the old switch. The old switch had a connection for the light that indicated if the unit was on or off. The new switch did not so I taped the lighting wire and do not have an indicator light now. I put everything back together and the new switch solved the problem. The fan turns off and the grill works fine.
