How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011290 / WP7403P238-60 Range Infinite Switch Top Burner Control

Watched appliance parts pros video on YouTube to determine which part to replace. Ordered parts and followed how to video and replaced parts. 

It was easy, especially since it's my second time. After the other time I took pictures of the back and sides with the screws I needed to use to remove the range top circled. That helped a bunch over the first time. It took as long to clean up under the range as it did to fix it. 

I replaced the infinite switch. 

Bought replacements for all 4 burners, Watched the video, and replaced them myself. One thing I did differently was as I removed one wire - I connected it to the right spot on the new infinite switch. And all you need is your screwdriver and needle nose pliers. The stove is good for hopefully several more years. The actual repair didn’t take much time. As the stove had to be pulled away from the wall - might as well get the cleaning done too - that took all afternoon. 

Ordered replacement thermostat 

Replaced the infinite switch which controls the heat element temperature. I unplugged the stove from the electrical outlet. Then removed the top back panel to gain access to the wires. I removed the knob from the switch on the front to access the screws holding the switch to the panel. Then I removed one wire at a time and placed it on the new switch. I ordered switches for both small and large heating elements. The packaging does not describe which element it is for and the numbers are not the same as on the old switch. So I had to go back online where I ordered the parts to find out the proper switch for each element. I replaced two switches. It took about 30 minutes, but I work slowly. 

I did myself. 

The infinite switch took care of the problem now we can use the large front eye again! 

I replaced the faulty switch in the back panel. The hardest part of the job was pulling the range out of its niche and then pushing it back in afterward. The tricky part was the wire terminals, which were in different locations compared to the old switch. There wasn't much slack in the wires but I made them work in their new locations. 

Replaced three switch's! the fourth switch was out of production or would have replaced it.
