How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013380 / WP8566184 Dryer Timer

New timer 

I don't own a multimeter, but wouldn't know how to use it. Ended up calling in the pros. They diagnosed it as a timer issue. Quoted me a price, ouch. They would have had to come back, total price just short of a new machine. Went online and found timer for almost half price. Decided to order and do work myself saving the labor. Job was easy, just 7 screws and unit had colors marked for wires. Switched one wire at a time, attached and closed up. Test ran machine, runs like a charm. 

Dryer just suddenly wouldn't start. Had service technician come out to diagnose problem. Ordered timer online. Took about 10 minutes to replace it. Very easy fix.

I ordered the new timer and replaced the part in a short time. I first watched your wonderful video and it was easy. I am a 73 year old woman, and always have been a learn and do person. Your company is the best when it comes to helping the average person save repair expenses. The part came the day after I ordered it. I recently repaired the dishwasher rack using your parts and video. You are the best! 

Took the old one out and replaced it. took about 45 minutes. the best part of the repair was how fast you shipped the part and the cost. also, the ease of finding the part on your site. 

My Maytag dryer suddenly would not start. All recommended symptoms/causes checked out fine. The timer did advance correctly, but continuity checks showed open circuit on one path. On removal of the timer a rattle was observed and after disassembling the original timer, one of the contacts had burned up. This was likely caused to a significant accumulation of lint between the drum and the motor, causing added resistance to the motor/blower. The vent side was completely clear so there was no evidence of the buildup. Replacing of the timer was very easy, but troubleshooting this issue took some time as it is never listed as a common cause.
