How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013380 / WP8566184 Dryer Timer

After watching the online video regarding the needed part, I ordered the correct part from Appliance Parts Pros. Repair was simple, plus I cleaned out all lint from the back of the dryer. We have two yellow labs, so lots of hair was caked around filter under or in the back of the lint shoot. 

Bought a new timer assembly and installed it myself. 

Check the continuity in the timer and that was the problem. Ordered one and put it in very easily and the dryer works fine. 

After reading other/similar issues with our Maytag dryer and watching how simple the repair could be, I ordered the timer part. I have used AppliancePartsPros in the past and like the fact that they sell factory parts. The part arrived within a couple days, the repair was easier than expected. I didn't even have to pull the dryer all the way out of the space it was in (and we have a small laundry room). After the R&R of the part, I realized the old part had a something rattling around. After opening it up I noticed a loose contact - just as many of the internet comments had suggested, this timer has/had a flaw. Easy repair that saved us a couple hundred dollars and my wife thinks I'm a genius. Of course I didn't tell her how easy it really was. I'm due for a new golf club and it was an easy sell. 

Removed timer. Ordered part. Replaced timer.

Replacing the timer on my dryer got it working again. The Appliance Parts Pros video showing how to replace the part was thorough, leaving me with no guesses about what I needed to do or unforeseen surprises.

We ordered the dryer timer that corresponded to our Maytag clothes dryer based on the symptom/problem. This website has Q&A that helped me be certain I identified the problem correctly. That was a big help too! The part came quicker than I thought it would and it was super simple to install even though our part looked a tad bit different (easier to do actually than the video showed). Put in some clothes,set it on a timed dry cycle and voila! It worked like a new dryer. (At first I thought it wasn't working because it went longer than 40 minutes but our dryer dries for a specified time and then goes into a cool down cycle.) We knew it was working when we heard the end of cycle buzzer. Yay! The dryer part was worth every cent! This is the second time we've ordered from Applicance Parts Pros. Very happy to have found this site. 

I tried to set the timer dial and then hit the starter, nothing happened. I checked the power, it was ok. I looked at the door to make sure it was closed, but it still would not start. We had some trouble prior to the machine shutting off before the timer ran out. So I went to AppliancePartsPros, checked my dryer model, looked for the timer part and also the push start buttons, I ordered them and received them two days later, sooner then I thought. I cleaned the dryer and vents, replaced the parts, ( never did this before), and set everything back up, tested the dryer and it worked fine. AppliancePartsPros had the parts and shipped them fast.
