How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009021 / WP3976570 Dryer Timer

I took off the back panel then removed the timer, I held the old timer next to the new one and 1 at a time took off a wire and transferred it to the new one. It only took about 15 minutes, start to finish.Always unplug items before repair. 

I ordered a new dryer timer that was advertised to fit my sure. The part came quickly and worked as it should.

Looked up the model number. Matched the part on the drawing on the website.. Watched the installation video. Ordered the part. 2 days later new part arrived. WOW. Removed the old part. Installed the new part as shown and as described. Now wife is happy, I am happy. 

After I researched the problem and determined that there was a problem with the timer dial switch on my Kitchen Aid Superba gas dryer, then I had to figure out where to get the part. I found several sources on the internet, but I decided to get the part from AppliancePartsPros becasue of two things. The site let me check the correct part with the serial number of my dryer and secondly, I would be able to return it if it was not the right part. They shipped it out that day, and I had it within 2 days, and put the part in the next day. Works perfectly. It was the actual Whirlpool part not some knock-off. Problem solved. Dryer is running, starting and stopping as it should.
