How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012586 / WP8299778 Dryer Timer Control

Moved dryer away from the wall, (so I did not have to remove vent). Cleaned up lint and dirt with a vacuum before starting the job. Standing on the side of the unit, I pulled the panel cover, removed old timer, moved wires one at a time from the old timer to the new, re-assembled. The hardest part was retrieving the two screws that I dropped behind the dryer, but a magnet taped to a string did the job nicely (lol). 

My repair man had me to order a new timer for the dryer and he installed he had the new timer installed within 24 hours from the time it was ordered. The repair man also found out after he had already installed the new timer, that the vent pipe had a lot of lint in the outlet and he cleaned the vent from behind the vent louvers and now the dryer is working like a new one. My repair man is saying that he suspects that the clogged vent could have been the main problem all along with the dryer. 

Checked all the fuses,heater coil, bad timer. So replaced it
