My Maytag MTW5870TW0 would not power on. After doing the obvious checks regarding the breaker and outlet. I found online that it was probably an issue with the starter. I ordered a starter from AppliancePartsPros and followed the video repair guide.
Following the replacement of the starter, the washing machine turned on! I’ll be honest, I thought I was out of the woods when I heard it start, but it ended up only agitating or spinning. It would stay stuck on that for as long as you let it run- never progressing through a cycle or stopping on its own.
I did some more research online to figure out the issue I was having, and the part that came up most often was the timer. Again, I found myself on AppliancePartsPros, this time ordering a starter. When it arrived I completed the repair and the washing machine worked like new.
I am so glad I trusted the reviews and information I found on this site to repair my washing machine. Yes, I spent $180 in parts, but that’s still half the price of a new one, and I now understand this machine.
