How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009056 / WP3979618 Timer

I replaced the timer, and it works good. I tested twice and so far so good.

Ordered a new timer control unit for my 15 year old Whirlpool. Thanks to the tutorial videos that go with the part, I was able to have my 14 year old son complete the part exchange with me just standing by for safety. Dryer works good as new now and my son is asking what we can fix next.

Replaced the timer. Worked like a charm. Easy to install with a nut driver and a screwdriver. It was so easy I let my 7 and 9 year old boys do most of the work. Wife is happy the dryer now shuts off when we dry things overnight or when we leave the house.
