After confirming that the heating element was ok (this is an excellent video on how to test every component of a dryer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18uVUz4XHbE&t), as well as other parts of the dryer, I was able to conclude that the timer was the part causing my problem. I wrote down the part number on the timer unit and looked it up on AppliancePartsPros.com and quickly found it. As additional info, a local appliance parts store wanted $126 for this part; here it was $68. I ordered it and amazingly, the part arrived the next day, less than 24 hours after ordering! I took a picture of the wiring before removing them from the old timer and reviewed it when I installed the replacement. The dryer is working again and I could not be happier!
