Richard N Redlands , CA January 01, 2016 Appliance: Model MAYTAG CDE851 The lettering on the 25+ year old top burner knobs of our oven was worn off and the replacement knob did not appear to fit until i looked closely at the shaft of the switch The original knob had an indexing spline at the OFF (top) position of the knob. The replacement knob had the indexing spline at bottom of the knob. The knob would not slide onto the shaft of the switch. A close inspection of the shaft of the switch revealed a flat spring in the groove into which the spline would slide. This spring appeared to be preventing the knob from sliding onto the shaft. Initially I tried moving the spring to the bottom of the shaft, but the knob would not slide onto the shaft. Removing the spring from the shaft allowed the knob to be fully seated on the shaft of the switch. Bonnie A Shacklefords , VA March 01, 2020 Appliance: Model S160 JENN AIR Oven gasket Folks, let me tell you. To make the job easier, take a picture after each step of removing a set of screws! No, the job wasn't hard, however when you forget which step was next (AND YES! I placed the screws in order on the counter! TG). It took longer than it should have. My husband got a little impatient because, YES, you know I had to clean! Overall, I'm thrilled. Used the oven last night and who knew how much heat was being lost. I can't tell you how long it's been since something that was supposed to cook 30min, ACTUALLY took 30min. Want to say a huge THANK YOU for having a diagram of my 30+ year old oven. That helped immensely to get everything back together (because neither I, nor my husband could remember exactly! Hahahaha) Don't let my time fool you. Again, I had to clean it (Highly recommend vinegar, baking soda & #0000 steel wool - it's the BOMB!) I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A NEW OVEN!!! PS - we did not remove the door to do the job. Kind of glad about that. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers
