How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007578 / WP308180 Oven Bake Element

Original oven from 1983. Noticed a section of the old element glowing white hot. The oven would barely get to 150 F. AppliancePartsPros.com had a new element here within 3 business days. 

Replaced the bake element.

Looked up the model number of the stove and I found your website and I ordered your part and your description was perfect and your shipping was impeccable very pleased with this outfit. 

WD-40 in two applications. To begin, dose both Philip's head sheet metal screws for the heating element and also behind the light bulb - use the red straw. Let sit for a minute. Once the screws and bulb become loose enough to turn for a full revolution, dose again and let sit for another minute or two. Then finish unscrewing all three items. Forty years of oxidation and guck takes a bit more effort. 

Ordered a replacement bake element. Watched the video on your website on how to replace it. 

We replaced the oven bake element. It was quite easy and the video on how to do the repair made the difference for us to be able to do it ourselves rather than call the appliance repairman to install it. 

Checked the element temperature with an infrared thermometer and found the lower element not hot enough (it was the same temperature as the oven ambient). Got a replacement element in short order from AppliancePartsPros.com. Installation was two wires with quick sonnets (spade lugs) and two screws to hold the element in place. ALWAYS WORK WITH THE BREAKER OFF. 

Replaced the bake element. 

Ordered a new bake element.
