Well, I typed in the problem in google and it gave me several options or suggestions as to what might be wrong, so I dug in a littler further with the model of my washer and it came up with the coupler. So I go home, start taking my washer apart (mind you, I'm 62, stubborn, and cheap) to see if I can take it apart and I did it! I unscrewed the old coupler and it still had teeth on it, but I went with the recommendation from you guys on the coupler. So I ordered it and to my amazement, it arrived 2 days later! I put it on, screw everything back on, crossed my fingers and turned on the water. Do you know how difficult it is to see if the agitator is agitating because it shuts off when you open the hood...anyway, I heard a ton of noise (splashing noise) and took a flashlight to see if I could see the agitation and it was working! not only working, but REALLY working. I was SO proud of myself. Called myself Ms. Maytag washer repair person for a few days. Anyway, I so appreciate your help with helping me figure out what the issue was, showing me pictures and most of all, getting it to me in two days! I would HIGHLY recommend you to anyone! Thank you so much!
